| Transcript | 23rd Janry [January?] 1915 My dear Mrs Savage Armstrong I have to thank you for yours of the 21st enclosing me your son Frank's letter which we have read with much interest & now return with many thanks, you also very kindly sent me 1/6. I have ordered the pills & will send them to you the moment I get them. You are right about Cam Downing being of the same relationship to you as my father was - but his father was not David Fullerton but General David Downing Indian Army. Delapor is an artist in London & is Cam's brother & Dawson Caly but is a nephew of Cam. Gladys [Ovey?] is Cam's only child. This, I think, will put you right about the [------?] unless I have made some mistake writing it which I did from memory. I only put down the first of the Fullertons. Geo. [George?] Alex. F. [Fullerton?] he had 2 sons. Alex. Geo. [George?] & David & the present Geo. [George?] Fred. Fullerton of Ballintoy is David's only surviving son. There can easily be some confusion between G.A.F. & his son A.G.F. for their names were the same but the order of the names was reversed. George Alexander Fullerton died 1847 married Mary Anne Peacock [Children] Alexander George died 1908 married Lady Georgiana Levesafower - William Granville Gren Guards. died 1855 David died ....? m. [married?] Susannah Jane Scott - George Frederick Purley Park Reading & seven daughters Susan Maxwell Frances Armstrong This will give you an idea how the Fullertons have prospered. Freddy Fullerton as he is called married a Miss Storer of Purley Park & I see he is residing there now so his father in law must be dead & I presume she was an only child. I have never met him. I called on Col. Courtney when in Ireland but he never returned my call so there the matter has rested. I am sorry to say I have been doing nothing about completing the Downing Pedigree as I have got to that stage when nothing more can be done without spending money on it & I have not enough of this world's goods to be able to do it. I heard Alex. Geo. [George?] Fullerton took some interest in the work but I never saw the results. he died in 1908 within 2 or 3 months of completing his 100th year. Hope to send you the [-----] pills very soon yours very sincerely J.G. Downing. |
