Ballindrait Strabane Ireland Tapleytown Dec 10 1888 Dear Uncle, I received your kind and welcome letter in due course and was very happy to hear that you were all well the last letter I must apologise for not writing soon I had one letter commenced but could not get time to finish it. we had a very wet fall here in Canada Granny Lowry is staying with us for a few weeks and Uncle Kirk's youngest daughter Ella I must not forget to thank you for your congratulations on my Brother's Marriage he rented a farm 50 acers [acres?] this year and had over 1000 [?] oats and 60-five barley: our oats yielded to about 60 five to the acre. We [milled?] five acre this summer. Butter has been from 25c to 35c a lb Uncle Kirk has sold his Blacksmiths shop and went back to [Canada?] to the Farm you said that you did not receive a piece of Aunt Ann's hair I braided a small bit and put it in so it must of have been taken out and I put a card in about a year ago and I didn't know whether you received it or not you wanted Grandfather's likeness I told him he is going to get them - at his earliest convenience Aunt Jane Knox has not been very well this summer but is a little better I received your paper last night so I thought it was time to write We have 4 acers [acres?] of an orchard and we had about 175 barrels of apples Fall and Winter. I will be 15 years on the 19th February, and weigh 111 lb; Uncle Kirk's moved just 2 fields from Aunt Ann #PAGE 2 so that she will have a little company now. We have never received a letter from Aunt Margret I will send you a paper this time. We have had the Gov [Governor?] General of Canada in Hamilton last week and Lady Stanely which there was a great deal of money spent over all for nothing. Well I guess I will have to stop at present for want of news. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
