| Transcript | 25 April 1876 Dear Father and Mother, I arrived here all right yesterday evening, and Dan and Edward Rooney met me at the Castle Garden. I was a little ill on Easter Saturday and Sunday. We had a very long passage. We had a head wind the whole way from when we left Queenstown till we arrived in New York. I will write Mary to see what time I would need to leave to go over. I left my box in Castle Garden. Mrs. Rooney is very kindly. There is a friend of hers died on Saturday. So Dear Father and Mother, you need not be the least uneasy about me. How did Mick get home? I will write you as soon as I arrive with Mary. So Dear Father and Mother, I will not say much more. Hoping you all spent a happy Easter Sunday. So do not be uneasy about me. Kind love to Brothers and Sisters, Your affectionate Son, John Hanlon |
