| Transcript | My Dear Simms New York, 20th Jany [January?] 1817 You have now a much better channel than mine to get the news of this Country therefore I refer you to it Robert is well liked & will improve on acquaintance & if he should not succeed in life, it will not be owing to any defect in his morals, his understanding, or his Education. With the feelings of a father, I congratulate you sincerely my dear friend, on the possession of such a son Not knowing the Address of my old friend.
