| Transcript | Portadown 7th Octr 1854 Dear Joseph We have [not?] yours from covering Bills of exchange for [amt?] of [?] account for which under all circumstances we are thankful it might be worse The life is dreary but must be borne, things are looking better here [jams?] are cheap and goods can be got up earlier and we think we have seen the worst of things I don't consider there will be many more failures in Ireland at least we have a most abundant harvest and [for---sions?] are likey to be cheap enough although the Potatoes are all but an entire failure However the poor will have plenty and cheap food and I still think a full supply of employment and not very low wages Cholera is [---------?] so that looking at all sides of [affairs?] we have reason to be thankful. I am sorry to tell you that old Ledwich has fallen a victim to cholera and is gone So ends our hopes of getting anything from him So a like Craig is also. Dead Died in a few hours sickness cholera also Belfast has suffered a good deal, thank Providence we are all well So are the [friends or finances?] down Sheet and William particularly so and very happy and has a good prospect for being so he seems to have made a good selection I think she would please you Yours Respectfully Rob't [Robert?] Moore |
